One of the most talented musicians, audio engineers, and a good friend of mine Brett Boland asked me to do photos for his studio, Brett Boland Recording.
Knowing Brett from the band Hetfield&Hetfield you can tell by the way he thrashes the drums he’s no ordinary drummer and wait till you hear what his new project Astronoid is becoming. I don’t think you’re ready for this.

Brett was previously an intern a Zing Recording Studio (yea THAT Zing) before finding his own studio space in Newburyport,MA. Since then he has recorded Vattnet Viskar (Century Media Records), Super Stoker, Mt. Meridian, and Happy Time Harry just to name a few. I have yet to hear a bad band that Brett has recorded.

So Back to the photos. This is what we came up with

Harvey Uncouth has released his solo record titled “I Believe In Harvey Uncouth”
Nine solid hip-hop tracks that are musically diverse but still cohesive
Every record i’ve heard from Harvey has been progressively more mature. Always a step in the right direction

Since I have had the privilege of designing the album artwork for the last three singles and as constructed a logo for the villainous MC, he had me design the artwork for “I Believe In Harvey Uncouth”

Me and Harvey had some ideas from the beginning starting with a photo shoot.
Just a plain black background that we could knock out in Photoshop

Then drawing inspiration from Harvey Dent’s campaign from the Dark Knight, some dark and grungy textures, a photo of NYC I took 5 years ago, we came up with:

thanks to the vector skills of Chou Design for designing the “Harvey Uncouth” name

Wondering what this album sounds like? Here’s my favorite track Bonfires In December

We’ve got a lot of media packed into this one today! We’ve been working with Harvey Uncouth on album art, live video, and a logo. I’ve known Harvey for years. If you’ve ever seen the destructive force known as Rebels of Art then you know Harvey throws down some serious rhymes. Since the split of Rebels of Art Harvey Uncouth and Elvis McFly have gone on to work on their own projects. The lyrical material seems to have matured over the years, but don’t think that the occasional reference comic books and sic-fi movies are gone. Harvey’s got some new singles up on SoundCloud that we have produced artwork for, and they’re some of his best songs yet!:

Simply Undefined

Pardon Me Brotha
Definitely one of my favorite tracks. Listen up:

Harvey was looking for a logo and we sketched out some ideas on some post-its. Since we both know he is an agent of chaos, this seemed fitting:

Beneath the Sheets had got Harvey Uncouth on the bill for their show at the Middle East in Cambridge, which ended up selling out quickly. The show was Harvey’s first show back on the scene and Beneath the Sheets were celebrating the release of their new single “She’s Bad and She Knows It” so the venue was packed. If you don’t believe me, here’s some video evidence:

there’s plenty more video from the show, so keep watching the skies…and YouTube for new tracks. #haileightarmed

the Good, the Bad, and the Undead

This week we started working on a new music video for Sub7 and the Undead. This will be a cut off their NEW album “Symphony in Blood”. Symphony in Blood is a sequel (part 2) in a series of concept albums. This song will follow Alistair Darkwater and his revenge on the gypsy family that cursed him. There’s blood, vampires, angels, and a group of girls that will tear your heart out and eat it for breakfast.
I have been working closely with Alistair on his vision and what part of the story we will be telling with this next video. I’ve heard the song and this video is going to ROCK. Since it is a concept album and it is meant to tell a story, the video is basically a short horror film. There’s nothing I enjoy more than rock n’ roll, blood, and film.
We got some great shots and it was a perfect weekend to shoot in the backwoods and backyards of Dunstable, MA despite the cold nights haha. Dawn and Scott were great hosts, they let us use their land and in return the girls got to show their gratification by sinking their teeth into their necks! Everyone wins!
Excited for the new album, this one is gonna be heavy!! Expect more updates on the progress from our Twitter and Facebook pages. Here’s some behind the scenes shots to peak your interest:

Caricature

We took a drive up to Universal Noise Storage in Newburyport, MA last month to visit our friend Brett. I’ve worked with Brett for years and have seen him thrash the skin off drums when he plays in Hetfield & Hetfield. He’s currently recording Caricature at the studio and playing drums for them as well. Caricature is a progressive/metal band from New Jersey and they recently released their EP Birth By Sleep and it’s pretty amazing. If you haven’t listened to them, I’ll give you a few mins…
Good, right!? Anyway, We found a couple good spots to shoot promotional photos for the band and here is a taste:

We’ve got some photos of Austin Bryant for his new website. He is the current drummer for Beneath the Sheets and 7 Mile Drive. We took a drive up to Newburyport,MA to find an interesting location on one of the last hot days of the summer. Found a good spot in the marsh, set up the drums, and rocked out. Jumped into the marsh to get some of the lower shots, which are probably my favorite pictures.
Out of the 30 photos I edited, here are a selected few:

My cousin’s wedding was this week and for the rehearsal we headed up to Portsmouth, NH. I’ve been to Portsmouth before and I knew that I was going to need my camera. Most people took a tour of the lighthouse, I toured the area around the lighthouse (Fort Constitution). I haven’t used my wide-angle lens too much so I decided to experiment with that.
I really like how this one is framed
